Universities continue remotely despite COVID-19 restrictions
The need for a reliable, secure, remote desktop solution for many organisations became an urgent requirement in 2020, and the education sector is no exception. Universities, colleges and schools across the world require remote working solutions at a large scale to support all of their staff and students. AUCloud successfully did just this for a leading Australian university in a matter of days, enabling students to continue their education remotely.
Remote access to core applications for circa 20,000 students at a leading Australian university.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure as a Service (VDIaaS) using VMware’s world leading Horizon 7 application, which provides a resilient, highly secure, sovereign service that meets the highest controls for data classifications in Australia. The underlying infrastructure is built using Cisco’s leading Unified Compute System (UCS) Platform which allows service providers, such as AUCloud to scale rapidly. This includes the ability to support thousands of additional users and hundreds of additional applications, based on the needs of the university and its users.
The solution provides immediate access to some 80 applications used by staff, lecturers and students providing the ability to work, learn, study and research remotely with, as near as possible, the same level of access to university resources, functionality and confidence as working in the physical environment.
