Phil Dawson - Director
Phil has been an active member of the board of directors at techUK and chaired its Cloud and Mobile Services Council. A recognised industry thought leader, he co-authored the UK Data Capability Strategy and has been a pioneer in developing the country’s digital economy and digital society.
During his four years as CEO of Skyscape (now UKCloud), Phil grew the company to become the biggest supplier of cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to the UK Government. He was Managing Director of MDS Technologies for nine years, during which time the company has grown significantly and established a strong reputation for delivering assured digital services to the public sector
Karen Young – Director
Karen sits on the board of directors at techUK and in August 2018 handed over the Managing Director role at MDS to Simon Jacobs. She continues to be involved in the day-to-day running of the business with a specific focus on commercials and sales engagement. Karen worked in a range of senior IT roles at the Ministry of Defence and large systems integrators, including Capita Secure Information Systems and SCC.
Among her career highlights are the successful delivery of a large IT outsourcing contract to a local authority, being part of the team that sold a £79M system to a major UK police force and playing a key role in MDS Technologies’ growth in revenue and headcount since 2013.
Away from work, Karen loves to travel the world (Thailand being a particular favourite) and has a passion for glass fusing.
Simon Jacobs - Managing Director
Simon has over 25 years’ experience in technical, consulting and managerial roles all of which have been customer facing in primarily the Data Networking, IT and Telecommunications industries.
As Managing Director and member of the board, Simon is responsible for all aspects of the business using his leadership and commercial acumen to drive and support business growth through highly engaged teams providing excellence in all aspects of sales, operational and customer services that are aligned to customer requirements and expectations.
Previously, Simon was Vice President Customer Service for an independent software developer and provider of cloud-based performance analytics and mobile workforce management solutions. Prior to that Simon was the Regional Service Manager for UK, Ireland and Benelux for a global electronics company having previously held roles at businesses including Cable & Wireless, Anite Networks and Case Communications.
Hanni Zahn - Finance Director
Hanni is responsible for the financial integrity and commercial sustainability of the business. As a member of the Board, she works closely with Simon, the Managing Director, at defining and driving tactical and strategic decisions of the business. Key priorities for her and her team are providing meaningful financial analysis and driving initiatives across the business to improve the Cashflow and the Growth of the business.
Hanni has extensive experience leading Finance Teams and managing a variety of financial complexities and was previously the Finance Manager and Internal Controller for Danone UK & Ireland. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte LLP, where she worked as External Auditor as well as Consultant as part of the Financial Advisory Team (M&A).
Adrian Plummer – Head of Business Development
Adrian brings nearly 20 years’ public sector IT delivery expertise to the business. He is responsible for the growth of the business through the identification and proposal of solutions to new customers and partners that meet their needs and exceed service expectation. Adrian also ensures we continue to offer services that take advantage of best-of-breed technology, as well as advising on the development of our in-house capabilities and partnerships.
Adrian previously worked for RM Education and Capita Secure Information Systems. Among his career highlights, he was the technical lead for several large-scale managed service transitions, led data centre migrations for large county councils and London boroughs, and led the delivery of a wide-ranging technology upgrade for a Government regulator.
Adrian also volunteers for the British Red Cross, where he leads a team providing radio communications and control room solutions supporting event first aid and emergency response across the south west of England and South Wales.
