The Technical Consultants are the ones who build the environments for customer projects. Taking designs from the Technical Architects, it’s our job to get everything ready for use, working closely with technical customer stakeholders. We’re responsible for everything from the physical hardware to the operating systems, virtual machines and software.
The thing I like so much about MDS is the breadth of technologies I get to work with, as well as the responsibility we all get. The role involves a mixture of independent and teamwork, depending on the nature of the project, and support is always there from your colleagues.
All of us in the technical consultancy team come from techy backgrounds – I started in first-line support and moved to MDS Technologies to join the second- and third-line team, before growing into my current role. Working for an expanding SME, there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and career, and the company really invests in its people: I’m currently working towards my Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification and have been on various other courses to support my role.
